One way to achieve success for your ecommerce store is to look to the best for inspiration. This means knowing what the top US brands are and understanding why they’re well liked by consumers.

According to the latest rankings, Band-Aid currently tops the list of the most popular brands in the US.

The determination was made after surveying consumers and measuring their perception of over 2,000 brands. Specifically, the ranking tracks and measures top US brands based on impression, quality, value, customer satisfaction, reputation, and likelihood of being recommended.

Their scores are then calculated by subtracting negative feedback from positive and can range from -100 to 100. This means that a brand with a score of zero has the same amount of positive and negative feedback.

With an overall score of 50, Band-Aid, owned by Johnson and Johnson, is the most popular US brand for the fifth year running. It slightly edged out Dawn, a brand of dishwashing liquid, by a marginal 0.3 points.

This is followed by Clorox, best known for its cleaning products, with 46.7 points. Two chocolate brands, Hershey’s and M&M’s, round out the five most popular brands in the US, with scores of 46 and 45.3, respectively.

Lysol, a producer of disinfectant products, is the sixth-most popular brand. According to analysts, Dawn, Clorox, and Lysol rank among the top US brands because consumers are starting to focus more on domestic comfort and cleanliness as they spend more time indoors.

Keeping with the same line of thought, home improvement and renovation were also at the top of consumers’ minds. So it’s no surprise that home improvement brands Lowe’s and Craftsman also feature on the list of the top 10 US brands. Lowe’s ranks in seventh place, with a score of 43.8, and Craftsman is in 10th, with 42.4.

Two other CPG brands, Cheerios and Quaker, are also among the top US brands. Cheerios, a line of breakfast cereals owned by General Mills, is in eighth place with a score of 42.8. It’s just a narrow 0.2 points ahead of PepsiCo-owned cereal brand Quaker, in ninth place.

Taking a closer look, we see that brands that sell perishables and home-related products dominate the list of top US brands.

Of the top 10, four (Band-Aid, Dawn, Clorox, and Lysol) relate to day-to-day home cleaning or protection, while two (Lowe’s and Craftsman) sell home equipment and tools. The remaining four (Hershey’s, M&M’s, Cheerios, and Quaker) are food brands.
